Our client is a fast growing and profitable commercial vehicle and trailer manufacturing company based in the North West. They design and manufacture a range of dry goods trailers, rigid body conversions and van conversions supplying major fleet operators and commercial vehicle manufacturers. In addition to manufacturing they also operate a major rental fleet and offer spares, service and support to logistics fleet operators across the UK. Their business is growing rapidly and they are looking to expand their supply chain organisation and purchasing team.
Responsibilities include:
•Obtaining price and delivery quotations from suppliers
•Selecting suppliers and placing supplier orders
•Recording supplier orders and track order acknowledgements
•Coordinate delivery schedules with suppliers and materials supervisors
•Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective actions where required
•Identify and implement opportunities for materials waste reduction
The role will require day-to-day liaison with internal and external contacts including suppliers, production planning, materials supervisors, manufacturing. This includes, Face to face, Phone, Email and written communication.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
This role is ideally suited to an organised, proactive and self-motivated individual with a systematic approach and the ability to work under pressure. Suitable candidates will have:
•A broad understanding of engineering materials and components
•A well organised and structured approach to record keeping and communication
•Strong communication and relationship building skills
•Excellent IT skills in including MS Office suite, Database and Planning systems,
•Interest in lean manufacturing, negotiation, buying and supply chain management
•Experience of and ability to work under pressure while handling multiple priorities
