Carl Ashley Raphael Barat known as Carl Barat (born 6 June 1978) is an English musician and most recently, actor and author. He was the frontman and lead guitarist of Dirty Pretty Things, and recently debuted a solo album, but is best known for being the co-frontman with Peter Doherty of the garage rock band The Libertines. In February 2005, the Libertines won the NME Best British Band award and Carl Barat paid tribute to Doherty in his acceptance speech. Days later, it was officially announced that Carl Barat had signed to Vertigo Records as a solo artist. Carl Barat released his self-titled, first solo album on 4 October 2010.
