Working for the construction team, the Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of wind farm projects & will be leading a multi-discipline team of engineering & construction staff. The PM will also collaborate with & support the managers within the development & ops team to ensure that projects are constructed in complete compliance with planning, land and grid requirements & that all operational requirements are integrated into project design & build.
The Person
* The ideal candidate should hold a higher education qualification in a relevant engineering discipline related to construction, civil or electrical engineering + have relevant exp. in a similar role.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development & training (esp safety training) and references shall be required.
* Exp. and proven knowledge of UK legislation & regulations in relation to infrastructure (including piled foundations) construction, drainage systems, management of lifting operations and safety management of HV electrical installations are all desirable.
* The role will be offered on a full-time permanent contract basis and flexibility to travel & manage construction at other wind farm projects within the UK and Ireland in the longer term is required.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring effective communication is maintained within the internal team & with external partners.
* Ensuring maintenance of construction quality & environmental plans.
* Implementing safety policy & monitoring the maintenance of site & project safety documentation.
* Overseeing control of quality of works & compliance with contractual specifications
* Preparing & maintaining construction budget & producing subsequent forecasts of costs to completion.
* Implementing the management of all designers & consultants to ensure timely production of all designs, specifications & drawings required for construction of works including any necessary design of temporary works.
* Leading construction project team in the required processes with external stakeholders (such as planning, land, grid)
* Monitoring of progress against construction programme + contract requirements & ensuring that suitable resources (internal and external) are applied to all activities in order to maintain the programme and achieve specified quality.
* Reviewing technical capability & capacity of prospective contractors & suppliers & ensuring that they are appointed in accordance with co procedures.
* Coordinating hand over of project on commercial operation & follow-up on any post-construction issues under the main contract.
With a background in a relevant engineering discipline related to construction, civil engineering or electrical engineering, the Construction Site Manager must be able to act independently and lead a small site team with technical and commercial support from in-house engineering resources and the Construction Project Manager.
You must have relevant recent experience in a similar role evidence of career progression demonstrating increased responsibility and ongoing training particularly safety training. Experience of road and bridge construction, drainage design and construction (SUDS), management of lifting operations and familiarity with safety management of HV electrical installations is beneficial in this instance.
This role is frontline customer facing and therefore requires excellent communication skills the ability to form and maintain excellent working relationship with client & subcontractors representatives.
The ability to travel, manage the working day and work at other wind farm sites within the UK and Ireland is essential
